The Wonder Wanderers

Here’s to childhood full of wonder, stories, nature play & cozy nooks!

About

Hi, I’m Danielle!

My childhood days were full of outdoor play, mud-flinging, creativity and most of all BOOKS. Many of my fondest memories involve books - listening to my mom read to us, reading the day away while lounging under our big maple tree, being so proud to read my first chapter book (The Borrowers) and of long afternoons browsing at the library to escape the summer heat. I always had a book (or five) on hand, and I proudly glowed whenever I heard my mom call me a “voracious reader”.

Now that I’m older, I enjoy children’s literature even more, if that’s possible! There’s so much to love - the beautiful artwork, the clever words, the engaging nature of the stories and pictures! As soon as I step foot in a library, I feel my whole body relax (just me?!) and it’s one of my favorite activities to spend an hour or two perusing the shelves for new discoveries.

When pregnant with my first child, one of the things I knew for sure was that I would do everything possible to instill a love of reading in my children. Many things have not played out how I expected as a mom, but I am beyond grateful to now have two little ones who love curling up beside me for a story (or five!).

One of my favorite parts of parenting is discovering quality books to read my kids and a main goal of this blog is to help you find beautiful books for your little ones too!

We currently homeschool, and I have been ever more thankful how books “teach” in a way that’s engaging and fun. Picture books and reference books provide just the right amount of interesting visuals along with facts and stories. It’s worth noting here too that although we homeschool, this blog & website is meant to be for ANY parent or caregiver, no matter the learning journey. Books bring richness and connection to every home & childhood in a way that’s simple and accessible.

So: here’s to libraries, to bursting bookshelves and cozy reading sessions, mugs full of tea and hearts full of adventure, that wherever you are, whoever you are, a good book is always close at hand.
